Shura Ford is a practitioner of Traditional Chinese medicine in Torquay. As a practitioner Shura enjoys the full diversity of general practice. She is passionate about helping people develop and above all maintain mental and physical health. Shura has over eighteen years experience working in private practice. She uses a combination of therapies in her treatments including acupuncture, herbal medicine, in addition to cupping, moxibustion and diet therapy.
Shura has a particular interest in supporting pregnant women and clients with fertility issues. However, she also supports other clients too. She sees clients experiancing pain, sleeping issues, digestive imbalances, musculoskeletal injuries and more. Shura finds Chinese medicine is very helpful for clients to manage stress, during and after a treatment. One of Shura’s great passions is teaching clients to live a balanced life and to use food as medicine.
Away from clinic Shura loves spending time in nature, particularly for instance at the beach and in the garden. She enjoys surfing and bike riding in the Torquay region and has a small home food garden. She also loves yoga, photography and writing. Shura wrote a regular column for Nature and Health magazine for four years. She now at times contributes to other health and wellness publications.
Shura studied at Victoria University in Melbourne from 1997-2000. She graduated with honours from a Bachelor of Health Science, in Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncture in 2000. Additionally in the same year, Shura completed a certificate of advanced clinical practice in acupuncture. This was attained during an internship at the affiliated Shenyang Hospital in Liaoning China. After that, in 2002 Shura completed an advanced diploma in Traditional Chinese herbal medicine, in Melbourne at the Southern School of Natural Medicine.
Shura has been a member of the Australian Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Association (AACMA) for twenty years. She is an AHPRA (Australian health practitioner regulation agency) registered acupuncturist and herbalist.
