Remedial Massage Therapy

Remedial massage therapy is a service utilised in our clinic by a number of professional athletes including AFL footballers, Olympic track and field athletes, professional golfers and amateur sportspeople of all levels.

Remedial massage therapy works in a number of ways. By soothing soft tissue, increasing oxygen flow in the blood, releasing toxins from the body and encouraging relaxation through physical and psychological healing for general wellbeing. Massage is especially effective in treating ‘viscous cycle’ complaints. For instance, a tension headache is often self-sustaining because the pain makes the sufferer clench the affected muscles.

Remedial massage

Remedial massage therapy, also known as remedial therapy is a therapeutic treatment that focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. It uses specialized techniques to release the chronic patterns of tension in the body, through slow strokes & pressure on the contracted areas, by either following or crossing over the muscle fibres, fascia & tendons. This therapy is used to address specific problems associated with chronic muscular pain, injury rehabilitation, sporting & occupational injuries, RSI, & physical or mental fatigue. Trigger Point Therapy & stretching techniques may also be utilized to create an improved range of motion through the joints.

Remedial therapy is applied in the preventative, corrective and rehabilitative phase of soft tissue dysfunction to restore and maintain the normal integrity of the soft tissue structure (muscles, tendon, ligaments and fascia) of the human body
